After you create your character, you'll be asked to play a game.
Pressing on "Play game" will get you started on your first game! After your first game, you'll be given a choice of denominations to play in the future.
As the game is on-chain, your action to play must be logged on the blockchain. Thanks to Base's 2-second mining times, the mining process should only take a short moment.
After your transaction is mined, you'll move onto the Matchmaking phase where it'll look for another player playing the same denomination. For the 0.01 ETH and 0.1 ETH denominations, your opponent should be found fairly quickly. For the higher 1 ETH denomination, it might require a longer period of time.
Once your opponent has been found, you'll see a "Prepare for Battle" loading screen. This is presented when your game is being dynamically generated for viewing.
Once the game loads, you'll see the game board.
Your character will always appear on the right side during a battle. At the top, you'll see your name, your rank, your level, and your class type denoted by your class emoji 🧑🌾🙏👑🪙⛰️.
Below your character you'll see your two hole cards. These two cards are your private cards that only you can use to make a hand. The % shown to the left of the cards represents your odds of winning given the current information revealed by the board.
At the center of the footer is the game info. Here it will show you what stake (0.01 ETH, 0.1 ETH, 1 ETH) the game is being played. Below the stake is the Game Number. Using the game number, you can easily access footage of your game by going to https://ethxy.com/game/[GAME_NUMBER].
The community cards are shared between yourself and your opponent. Anyone can use the community cards to complete their five-card hand. They are revealed gradually raising suspense as the game progresses to completion.
Once all 5 community cards are visible, the winner is determined by comparing the best 5 card hand out of the 7 cards each player has access to (5 community cards + 2 player hole cards). Standard poker hand rankings apply to determine the winner.
Cards will be denoted [Card Value][Suit Color]. For example, As would mean Ace of Spades. 5h would mean 5 of Hearts.
In order of strongest hand to weakest:
After the winner is determined, the pot is automatically deposited inside your EthXY wallet.
The protocol fee as denoted below is levied on the pot of the game, dependent on the denomination of the game played.
After the game, the winner's referral code is displayed, inviting any viewers of the game to join EthXY. If a user joins using the winner's code, they will get 1 REP adding to their reputation score and +10 points.
After the game is played, there are two options available: "View rewards" or "Play again". Tapping on "Play again" will start another game with the same denomination that you just played.
